Shameless
For the last ten days, the story that is hogging most of the airtime on every news channel in India is the Noida serial killing. Two individuals, Mohinder Singh and Surendra managed to lure, sexually abuse and kill more than 35 young children. They were undetected for nearly two years. Repeated complaints by the parents of missing children fell on deaf ears of the lethargic and corruption ridden U.P Police. In many cases, not even an FIR was registered and the parents were spoken rudely to. This incident happened in the Nithari village near sector 30. Unlike the rest of Noida, this village is little more than a slum and most of its inhabitants work as domestic help in the neighboring developed residential areas.
This made the work of the psycopaths much easier. They used to lure the young children promising them candy. The older girls were promised work and good pay. After taking them to a plush bungalow in Sector 30, they were sexually abused and killed. This was not the work of some bumbling deranged criminal but was done in an extremely professional manner. The dead bodies were dipped in acid to remove all traces of flesh and then the skeletons were buried in the backyard of the bungalow. Also the doctors say that there is a possibility of organ trade being involved since the knee caps of all the skeletons were missing.
The government reacted by suspending and dismissing many police officers and giving a compensation of 2 lakhs to the families of the missing children. Now the case has been referred to the CBI. But is that enough?? If the police had taken concrete steps in investigating the early disappearances, many more innocent lives could have been saved.
Why did the police show such negligent behavior? A few months back when Adobe India's CEO's kid was kidnapped, the same UP police sprung into action immediately. Special teams were constituted, the CM immediately gave a statement assuring that the child will be returned safely at the earliest. This time, it took Mulayam Singh more than a week to issue a statement and refer the issue to the CBI.
The justice system for the poor and rich seem to be entirely different in our country inspite of the constitutional guarantee that all are equal before the law. The accused in this case is a well connected businessman who was able to subvert the whole justice system by bribing a few corrupt officials.
A few months ago I had written a blog advocating the use of capital punishment as an effective way to prevent more crimes. Many people who read it were of the opinion that capital punishment is wrong and we have no right to take a life. But what about this case now? Bastards like Mohinder Singh and Surendra cruelly ended so many young lives and conferred a even more harsh punishment on the parents who have to live in agony for the rest of their lives knowing the kind of end their children met. I don't see anyone more deserving of being hanged to death than these two.

me the first!!!!!will get back after reading your post
hope you watched the movie Anniyan.. crime be it small or big should not happen for a nation to develop.. ppl do small crimes thinking that this is not fit for a punishment.. leaving that apart and coming to the point...
these two guys are ridiculous.. and the police and the politicians who had helped hiding the fact should be brought to prosecution...
I agree..they were cruel and heartless criminals. But nothing changes the fact that from Violence we cant solve Violence. And thats why I dont support Capital Punishment.
Keshi.
yeah, these heartless criminals should be hanged!
But what the police were doing for so long? So many children were missing they didn't even care to take it seriously?
Hang? They can be as well subjected to what they did to those kids...just give those 2 a bath in some good hot acid.
I wish the C.S.I were around.This will definately be one Execution Video we'd all love to watch
@olive:
Congrats..ice cream for you...
Yes, the whole system is at fault...every crime should be punished...the punishment should fit the crime.
@Keshi:
Come on Keshi, you can't possibly be in the favour of letting these guys off the hook. Look what they did. How many families they ruined?....would your comment have been the same if you would have known any of the victims personally?
@Karthik:
You don't know the UP police...they set new standards in incompetence..
@sindhu:
Now that would be what I call justice....
@parvathi:
You bet, would love to see their execution video...and it's personal too, this happened in my hometown
I dun think u see where Im coming from Ganesh. Im not saying they should be set free. All Im saying is Death Penalty isnt solving anything! And if we can justify violence, then we r doing the same thing as the criminal!
Keshi.
@ Keshi:
you live in a developed country, Keshi. The resources there are plentiful. The state can afford to keep prisoners for life...
But this is India. The resources here are limited and hence the state is forced to prioritize. It would irk me to no end to see taxpayers money going to waste keeping criminals like Mohinder and Surendra alive.
A jail should not be a place where a person is confined because he is too dangerous for the society. A jail should be a place where the prisoner is reformed. He should be imparted skills which would enable him to be integrated into the mainstream society.
But there are also such criminals who are so deranged that they are beyond reform. These kinds will carry on the same activities after release that they were jailed for. These social liabilities have to be dealt in such a manner that it sets an example for others.
sure,,n aft all this..i personally feel Delhi is totly unsafe! i only wish sumthg cud be done abt that
@krithika:
Delhi has always been unsafe for women, but now children too....if the police was more alert, such incidents could be avoided
these guys shud b handed over to the victims family members...they are best one to punish these imbeciles
@brute:
yep, that would be the correct way of justice...it should be filmed and shown on TV as a warning to offenders...
I know all that Ganesh but that still doesnt prove violence resolves violence. And thats my only point.
Lets just agree to disagree :)
Keshi.
@keshi:
you are right...we are both too stubborn to concede.....lets agree to disagree...
Thats a horrible state of affairs.. :(
@anon:
yep...absolutely

Just like in US, people shud be registered and published int eh website so that the society/neighbors know where the sex offenders live.
Politics, Law, Religion does vary when you do not have strict laws. Death penalty alone is not going to bring them back alive.
These kind of people don't deserve that easy death.. instead they should be tortured the same way they tortured those kids or even worse. They should be punished in such manner that they wish for death with every single breath but they don't die until they visit hell here before they finally go to hell..
@Priya:
Yes the website perverted-justice.com is a very noble effort to expose sex offenders. But here in India, it is possible to go undected by bribing corrupt officials. Here only the punishment can serve as a warning system for future criminals.
@ mommy of 2:
exactly, yesterday the CBI recovered more than 40 bags containing body parts. They should be stoned to death.
